Our inaugural Launceston Ukulele Jamboree in 2021 was a relatively small half day affair at The Royal Oak Hotel. We had a covid capacity of 80pp, and filled that quickly with uke lovers who were excited at the prospect of being part of the very first ever ukulele themed festival in Tasmania! The brainchild of Jackie Anifandis, the Jamboree was inspired by her watching the plethora of uke festivals across the globe and all around Australia and deciding to host an event to cater to Tasmanian lovers of this quirky little instrument. A grant was provided by Launceston City Council, and three bands were sourced through Jackie’s music network. Workshops were held in the morning prior to the concert, and the show also featured an open mic segment and mass playalong.
