SUMMARY:Saturday Night Showcase
DESCRIPTION:Launceston Ukulele Jamboree presents – Saturday Night Showcase\nUkulele Concert \n \n\n\nOur Saturday Night Showcase has something for everyone!\n\n\n\n\nFirst up we have The New Holland Honey Eaters (TAS) an old-time string band playing in the pre-WW2 Southern American tradition. You’ll be treated to music from the wide folk tradition\, ranging from rural string bands\, minstrelsy\, ballads\, ragtime\, and shape-note hymns\, to Cajun\, jug bands\, Jubilee and Gospel quartets\, western swing\, country blues and more! \nNext up is Rheinberger & Wilson (VIC)\, a musical comedy duo who are regulars on the Fringe Festival and Folk circuits. \n“A musical comedy duo combining razor-sharp songs about modern life & love with brooding accordion\, gutsy guitar\, ukulele & sweet harmonies. Rheinberger & Wilson are a unique Australian cabaret & comedy act\, going where other couples fear to tread.”\nQuote from Illawarra Folk Festival \nThe grand finale of our Saturday Concert is the 4-piece all-girl band Mama Juju & The Jam Tarts(QLD)! \nExpect quirky\, unique music\, stunning vocal harmonies\, exciting song arrangements\, a touch of naughtiness and an infectious energy. Mama Juju & The Jam Tarts play original songs that feature ukulele but also like to find and arrange kooky\, unusual or unexpected songs for the ukulele! From sweet jazz through to sassy blues and electrified rock ukulele complemented by a solid rhythm section of drums and bass\, the line-up also includes flute\, a genuine 1980s keytar (red for extra speed!)\, guitar\, harmonica and whatever other instruments they can lay their hands on. Their instrument-swapping antics and confusion about who is playing what just add to the onstage chaos!

SUMMARY:Ukulele Ensemble Friday Institute
DESCRIPTION:Launceston Ukulele Jamboree presents a Ukulele Ensemble Institute\nwith Sally Carter\, Cathy Welsford and The Wild Women of Anywhere Beach\n \n  \n\n\nFive hours of immersion in ukulele ensemble playing\nMinimum pre-requisite: You will need to be confident with easy TAB reading\, but the day will also provide a challenge for the skilled player. \nThis day is not suitable for beginner ukulele players. \nYou will need both a High G and Low G ukulele for these workshops. \nAll music supplied for you to keep. \n\n\n\n\n9.30 am – 12.00 pm\nStart your ukulele ensemble experience with newly arranged \nCampanella ensemble pieces by Sally Carter for High G ukuleles \nWhen playing in campanella style notes are fingered in such a way that playing consecutive notes on a string is avoided or minimised\, allowing the notes to ring over each other. Open string notes are frequently used when playing campanella melodies. You will play traditional Scottish and Irish tunes with both melody and harmony parts arranged in the campanella style\, and accompanied by chords. Plucking and fretting hand-fingering techniques will be discussed. \n\n\n\n\n1.00 pm – 3.30 pm\nComplete your ukulele ensemble experience with a trio of quirky\, contemporary ukulele ensemble pieces from Cathy Welsford’s Valla Beach Weather Suite. These three short ensemble pieces\, Rain\, Wind and Blue\, incorporate some easy but quirky techniques including picking the strings on the headstock\, creating howling wind noises using slides up and down the fretboard\, and detuning your ukulele to create lush chords. \nBoth High and Low G ukuleles are used. \n\n\n\n\nFriday Insitute is not included with Pineapple Pass \n\nTickets can be booked at https://theatrenorth.com.au/ukulele-friday-institute-25
